Historicial Development: Cherokee County records reveal that L. T. Willingham mortgaged with Mrs. C. Hammett for the “entire output of sawmill, also 1 20hp engine & boiler, 1 shop saw, 1 lumber wagon, also 26' Coleman grist mill” in 1895. Willingham apparently was operating a sawmill and grist mill plant in Cherokee County at that time.
