Historicial Development: | E. B. Gillan mortgaged with Wiley Thompson in 1887 for a sawmill, a steam boiler and engine, eight oxen, a log wagon, a blacksmith shop, and belting. Gillan apparently was not able to satisfy the mortgage with Thompson, for on February 22, 1888, Thompson mortgaged most of the outfit, minus one ox, to J. D. Matthews for $872. |
