Historicial Development: | One of Vernon Grogan's mills, the diesel and electric sawmill north of Alto, was the successor to his earlier Monkey Creek operation. The operation was listed in the Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1960 under Grogan Lumber with H. J. Grogan on Highway 69. The plant, established in 1943, employed about fifty workers to manufacture pine lumber and hardwood flooring. |
