Historicial Development: | G. Patten operated a water-powered sawmill in Cherokee County during the census year ending June 1, 1850. During that time he employed two men, each earning $12 per month. It is not known how much lumber Patten manufactured, but his mill was valued at $1000. He had 9,000 bushels of corn, valued at $4,500. He ground 10,800 bushels worth $5,700. |
