Historicial Development: | C. R. Gulledge and his logging operation were highlighted in Southern Lumberman. Gulledge employed a crew of four, three skidder operators and one tong hooker. See above for Type of Equipment. Gulledge noted that his two skidders, without their operators having to leave their seats, could hook, skid, and unhook the logs. The two skidders could do more work than three farm-like tractors and had increased daily truckloads in number from six to eight. The operation could harvest 25,000 board feet daily. |
