Historicial Development: | Beauchamp Brothers were sawmillers in Cherokee County before 1900. They bought, in 1886, what seems to be planing mill equipment. County records reveal that the Brothers purchased a 20-horsepower steam engine and boiler in June of 1889, and the following September they bought a band saw, spindle shift, and a Hall & Brown planer moulder.
In November, 1889, Beauchamp Brothers, mortgaged with Ullmer, Lewis & Co ($750) for a Hall shingle mill, a 30-horsepower steam engine and boiler, a 70-saw cotton gin, and a 25-horsepower engine boiler for the cotton gin.
