Historicial Development: | A. S. Rogers was listed as having a sawmill in 1884 at Lone Star in a railroad directory. Lone Star was fourteen miles from the railway at Rusk. According to Webb, Lone Star was founded before the Civil War. First known as Skin Tight, after the economic practices of one of the local businessmen, the community name was changed in 1883 when a post office was established. The town's demise began with its successor in the area, the new town of Ponta on the line of the Texas & New Orleans. The area supposedly had a sawmill before 1860. Today, it would be located three miles east on FM 235 from Lake Striker. |
