Historicial Development: The Sharp & Andrews sawmill was listed in the September 1906 article “Lumber Mills of Texas” of Southern Industrial and Lumber Review to be cutting 25,000 feet daily. The county deed records note that in January 1905, the firm of Sharp and Andrews bought 400,000 feet of standing timber from R. L. Coleman located on 160 acres in the north one-half of the Isaac Medford Survey, 80 acres on the Pane Scarbrough 160-acre survey, and 113 acres of the John Ruckman 320-acre survey. Coleman permitted Sharp and Andrews to build wagons roads and other entrances into the property in order to remove the sawtimber.
