Historicial Development: | The sawmill of R. H. Fawcett at Neches was not listed in the 1880 Census, but the Northwestern Lumberman reported his mill at Neches in a railroad listing.
Webb noted that the International & Great Northern created a stop in Anderson County about four miles from the Neches River. The stop was named after the river.
