Historicial Development: | The decade of the 1960s witnessed at Temple Industries the addition of a plywood plant, a particle-board plant, a fiberboard plant, and the building of an ultra-modern sawmill facility. Temple announced in 1972 that it would construct a $3,500,000 continuous ribbon particle-board plant at the north wall of the current particle-board plant. The continuous ribbon plant would use the Mede process. In 1990, it had nine operations, including five in Texas. Diboll still had a sawmill, working with panels and woodlands. The particle-board plant was built in 1968. In 1974, the particle board was expanded at a cost of $2,500,000 with the intent to increase production by 25 percent. In July, 1983, it had cut is one billionth foot. |
