Historicial Development: According to Archie Birdsong Matthews, Marvin and Charlie Mattox were running a sawmill in 1952 on the outskirts of Huntington. Marvin Mattox at Huntington was listed in the 1957 Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958 noted that Marvin Mattox at Huntington was a sole proprietorship, which began in 1945. Mattox employed less than ten workers. The Mattox Lumber Company at Huntington, according to Samson's directory of 1966, was employing eight people to produce rough and dressed lumber.
