Historicial Development: | In 1928, the Robertson-Kurth Lumber Company (C. J. Robertson and J. H. Kurth) was building a mill halfway between Liberty and the mouth of the Trinity. The firm intended to ship its lumber by barge. The mill must have been closed during portions of 1930 and 1931, probably because of the economic strain of the Great Depression, for The Gulf Coast Lumberman noted in February, 1931, that the Robertson-Kurth mills at Devers and Liberty were starting up again. This mill did not last long, probably because of the economic strains caused by the Great Depression.
