Historicial Development: The Gulf Coast Lumberman reported on August 15, 1948, that the S. B. Cox sawmill operation at Beaumont was totally destroyed by fire. Losses included $5,000 in equipment and 5,000 feet of lumber. Cox did not have insurance.
