Historicial Development: The Gulf Coast Lumberman reported that the J. M. West Lumber Company bought the Reese-Corriher Lumber Company in 1920. The sawmill was located six miles east of Beaumont adjacent to the Southern Pacific tracks. The sale included stumpage of fifty million feet of long leaf and short leaf pine. South Texas Lumber Company, a J. M. West operation, would market the cut. The J. M. West mills at Milvid, Onalaska, and Connell were cut out by 1928.
