Historicial Development: Angelina County records note that G. W. Burkitt and L. G. Barnes had sold a sawmill in September, 1919, to D. J. Victorian. On February 22, 1921, he sold it back to Burkitt & Barnes. The plant was located at Shawnee Station, which was probably located along Shawnee Creek. The area, at various periods, was known as Ozias and as Retrieve.
