Historicial Development: A sawmiller in Houston County lost his sawmill to the Guaranty State Bank of Grapeland at a sheriff's sale. County records show, that on March 23, 1915, Sheriff D. H. Guinn of Anderson County, sold J. L. Montgomery's sawmill, located about four miles south of Denham Springs, to the Bank. Equipment included a 56-inch by 16-foot boiler, a 12-inch by 14-inch steam engine, a 3-block carriage, a 3-saw edger, a Nall and Brown #14 Mississippi planer, feed works, two log wagons, all for $750.
