Historicial Development: The Dinkins sawmill operated from approximately the late 1920s to the early 1930s. Although no community as such existed at the site, Hegar was the post office for the sawmill settlement. Working a dayshift only, the mill produced rough-cut pine. Instead of a mill pond, the Dinkins dug a water well nearby. Logging was done with a crosscut saw and hauled by a mule-drawn wagon. The sawmill continued until the timber was cut out.
