Historicial Development: The Walter Murray sawmill operation, according to the 1860 Census Products of Industry Schedule was d to be a capital investment of $8,450, with $2,650 invested in 4,250 sawlogs. Seven men were employed at a total monthly wage of $183. The sawmill manufactured 900,000 feet of lumber valued at $11,250. Murray had moved his sawmill from its location west of Huntsville to the Crabbs Prairie about 1854.
