Historicial Development: D. T. Manning was listed in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1905 edition as a manufacturer of lumber at Sion, and again in 1907. Webb's the Handbook of Texas describes the community as “a sawmill site with a general store, daily mail delivery, and a population of 150 by 1896. . . . it was not listed in census reports after 1914.” Daniel T. Manning was enumerated in the Census of 1910 as a “sawmill owner” at Precinct 2, Residence 248.
