Historicial Development: Pine Mills, earlier known as Liberty Hill, is located in eastern Wood County on Big Sandy Creek. In the 1870s, R. B. Kreitman operated a sawmill at Pine Mills, according to Webb. By 1885, the community had two sawmills, several stores, two gins, and a post office. Credit rating lists continued to show sawmill activity at Pine Mills until about 1908.
