Historicial Development: The Southern Lumberman in November 1908 noted that Connor Campbell Lumber Company, with J. L. Connor and others, incorporated the Connor Campbell Lumber Company with a stock capital of $10,000. Its first plant may have been at Lasater in Marion County. Connor Campbell Lumber Company began manufacturing lumber at Winnsboro no later than the late 1920s and survived the Great Depression, although the community population fell more than sixty percent in six years. It was still cutting lumber in 1957.
