Historicial Development: The T.O. Sutton and Sons Lumber Company, based out of their Centerville, Leon County, mill, were listed as manufacturers of whole yellow pine lumber. They also operated first a sawmill in 1928, then a planing mill at Colmesneil in 1934. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1954 lists the T. O. Sutton & Sons sawmill at Colmesneil as being established in 1925. In 1954, the plant employed more than fifty workers. The company also had a plant at Chireno, in Nacogdoches County, since 1937 or 1938.
