Historicial Development: The Phillips & Company Sawmill was listed in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas and the Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958. According to the latter directory, George Phillips was running the plant, which had been established in 1946. He employed less than ten workers to manufacture rough and finished pine lumber.
