Historicial Development: An oral interview with Thomas Hamilton, a long-time resident of Sabine County, revealed that the R. D. Beckham sawmill has been operated in Sabine County for several years. It is located about four miles southwest of Hemphill. This is a “peckerwood” operation, consisting of a one-man operated circular sawmill.
