Historicial Development: Secondary sources of this company are confirmed by a trade journal report of 1906, in which it is noted the Eastman-Hyatt Lumber Company filed for charter in March, 1906, with a capitalization of $15,000. Located at Long station, on the Sabine & East Texas, a division of the Texas and New Orleans, the community was renamed Eastman after E. W. Eastman, president of the company. The mill and post office closed in 1907. Financial difficulties brought about by the panic in 1907 have been the explained reasons.
