Historicial Development: Barlow's Sawmill was listed in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. An oral interview with Drayton Speights, life-long resident and lumberman of Sabine County, revealed that the mill existed in the 1940s. It was located on the west side of Highway 96, about one mile north of Pineland.
