Historicial Development: The Walls acquired a sawmill west of San Augustine in 1885. They mortgaged an one-half interest for $100 in it to a local merchant and money lender, E. A. Blount. This Wall is probably the same W. H. Wall who appears repeatedly in early county records as being involved in the sawmill business. This concern does not appear in either the 1870 Products of Industry or the 1880 Special Schedules of Manufactures for San Augustine County.
