Historicial Development: Earnest Nash recalled for V. L. Beasley that Norman Birdwell operated an electric-powered, circular sawmill south of San Augustine during the 1970s. Ricky Lout believed the mill began in the 1960s, cutting ties. N. T. Birdwell of the above address bought from Powell Lumber Company of Lake Charles, Louisiana, a 20-foot trimmer and 110 feet of green chain, all located at Warren, Tyler County, for $3,600.
