Historicial Development: C. E. Thomas mortgaged with J. L. Thomas for $1534 a sawmill with machinery, located on the A. T. Polk land, about four and a half miles southwest of San Augustine. C. E. Thomas was taxed by the county on tools and boilers in 1907 and on product and tools in 1908. C. E. Thomas mortgaged with Dilley for $325 for an Ames boiler 44-inch by 10-foot boiler. On 1 January 1908, C. E. Thomas mortgaged with Tucker Sharp 20,000 feet of lumber at the Thomas's sawmill, located about five and a half miles from San Augustine on Mrs. Lester's land.
