Historicial Development: L. B. (or S. B.) Morrison owned a sawmill northeast of Hallsville sometime after 1900. In June and July, 1906, he mortgaged almost 550,000 feet of lumber. A November mortgage revealed property to include an engine, boiler, edger, buildings, planer, a gas engine, a steam dry kiln, standing timber, eight mules, and a horse, on which Bering Lumber Company loaned him $8,000.
