Historicial Development: Panola County records reveal that E. E. Porter owned a planing mill in 1900. He had a credit rating of “slow pay” up to $2000. He was listed in the 1907 edition. Porter apparently brought Biggs, from Pruitt & Biggs, into his operation in 1908. In that year, they obtained a mortgage from Torrans Manufacturing Company for the planing mill for $615.
