Historicial Development: The Orange County tax rolls carried the firm of Long, Trammel and Company in 1857. The owners probably were W. T. Long and William Trammel. W. T. Long rendered Madison lot number one, valued at $900 for 1857. William Trammel paid a poll tax for 1857. The d capital value of the sawmill was $2,500. In 1858, W. T. Long rendered a sawmill in his own name, which was valued at $2,500. Trammel did not appear in the tax rolls that year. Neither Trammel nor Long appeared in the tax years for 1859. The fate of the sawmill is unknown.
