Historicial Development: According to Nelson T. Samson's list of East Texas sawmills in 1957, J. B. Keasler and Cecil Walker operated a sawmill at Hallsville. This would have been one of the later and smaller mills located at Walker's Mill, about five miles north of Hallsville. It would have cut about 10,000 feet daily of lumber.
