Historicial Development: Lane Matthews remembered that a Mr. Westbrook had a small hardwood mill on Shirley Creek during the 1940s. The mill had a small commissary and a few tenant houses, which was financed by T. O. Sutton & Sons, who had a much larger mill just south of Chireno.
