Historicial Development: S. D. Prosser, according to county records, had a sawmill five miles east of Appleby in 1907 and 1908. He contracted with W. G. Harrington, President of Davisville Lumber Company of Angelina County, in 1907 to sell Harrington lumber from his yard. Prosser agreed to ship it by railroad from Appleby. He mortgaged Prosser's Mill to Stone Fort National Bank.
