Historicial Development: Mrs. Inez Tatum recalled a “Hyyters” lumber-milling outfit on the Douglas Highway in Nacogdoches County during the 1940s. The Douglas Highway is Highway 7 running west from Nacogdoches. The Hayter Lumber Company, at Nacogdoches, is listed in the 1957 Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas.
