Historicial Development: E. L. Ruark operated a part-time sawmill at Lockland in 1903. A newspaper report noted that Ruark, “of Mt. Enterprise, was in the city [Nacogdoches] yesterday. He came to lay in a supply of forage for his mill and says he has laid by crops and intends to saw lumber for a month or two. There is something doing all the time about his place.”
