Historicial Development: A. A. Patterson operated a sawmill in Panola County in 1905. That year he mortgaged property “now used at Saw Mill” to the First National Bank, Carthage. He had not been listed in the January 1905 Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association and was not listed in the 1907 edition. Patterson did some of his own logging. The chattel mortgage listed eight mules, two horses, ten yoke of oxen, five log wagons, and one two-horse wagon. On May 7, 1907, Patterson mortgaged with Lindsey Wagon Company for an eight-wheel log wagon in the amount of $100.
