Historicial Development: On February 14, 1908, J. O. H. Bennette bought from John G. McGregor a sawmill and all its equipment, including a Port Huron 26-horsepower steam engine. McGregor had bought the sawmill from S. O. Perkins in March, 1907. Bennette earlier had a sawmill at Timber and later Conroe.
