Historicial Development: Walker Brothers Lumber Company, of Huntsville, Texas, had a stud mill at Alto during the 1970s. M. Cooper told Vernon Beasley that Walker Brothers sold the stud mill to Pierce some time during the 1970s. The operation was listed in the 1987 Forest Products Industries in Texas.
