Historicial Development: Cherokee County records reveal that T. W. and Cole Butler sold the Butler Box Factory to P. T. Butler in 1956. The Butler Box Co. at Rusk appeared Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas in 1957. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958 noted that the company had become Butler & Sons and was using a planing mill to produce wooden boxes and crates.
