Historicial Development: Cherokee County records note that John A. Wishard and John Anderson operated at least a planing mill in 1912 and 1913. Wishard & Anderson mortgaged on October 5, 1912, to the Farmers-Merchants State Bank for $309 150,000 feet of lumber. They mortgaged on December 10, 1912, to the Farmers-Merchants State Bank for $425 150,000 feet of lumber. By 1913, John A. Wishard's name was appearing alone in the mortgage registers. John A. Wishard, on February 19, 1913, mortgaged to First National Bank at Rusk for $285 a total of “150,000 feet of lumber.” John A. Wishard, on July 12, 1913, mortgaged a planer-matcher to First National Bank at Rusk for $350.
