Historicial Development: J. L. Hall had a shingle mill in Cherokee County sometime after 1900. In June, 1911, he bought on a mortgage from T. A. Ward & Bro for $1,400 a “boiler, 1 st engine, 1 shingle machine, 2 mules, 2 wagons.” He mortgaged on September 6, 1911, to Dilley & Son for $175 a shingle machine and a shingle saw.
