| History: | The first Grogan tram road ran into Cass County from Miller County in 1897. With the erection of their first Cass County sawmill in 1902, the Grogans built a “wagon tram” indicating they may still have been using mules, wagons, and wooden rails to transport sawtimber and milled lumber. Keeling notes that Grogan Mfg. Co. operated four miles of tram track. Grogan's Sawmill appeared on the March 1910 edition of the United States Geological Survey map located about 1.5 miles northwest of Bivins on “Grogan's Tramroad” which connected to the Texas & Pacific railroad at Bivins. |
