Pioneer settlers began arriving in this area in late 1830s. When the post office opened in 1901 the town was renamed Reynard (French for fox). By 1905 the town contained a church, school, cotton gin, sawmill and scattered farms. Although the post office closed in 1907 the town continued to flourish until after WW II when the majority of the residents moved away leaving only scattered farms and a church building.
